Do you ship outside the U.S.?
Do you stock cores for specific airplanes or kits?
Cores for existing model airplanes are listed here. This list is short because we do not classify cores that we produce as being part of a specific airplane, simply because most of the time we do not know what the cores are for. Most of our work is custom and may have been modified in some way.
I broke my ARF! Can you make a replacement wing?
This can be difficult in many cases. Today, many ARF (Almost ready to fly) airplanes are made in batches in China using manufacturing techiques and materials that are not available here. These airplanes typically to not include plans or any detailed information that can be used to make replacement parts.
We can make most any wing, but the result will not exactly match the original in materials or appearance and may cost more that the original airplane.
For small foamy electrics, try our Quick Order Cores. These cores are available in constant chord and tapered planforms and in many different sizes that can be trimmed to size if needed.
I found a plane that I like on the Internet. Can you make one for me?
Probably not. Most designs sold on Internet web sites have little or no information available about airfoils, chord lengths and wing span, which are essential pieces of information needed to make a wing. It is not our business to copy other companies designs and we do not do this.
What types of foam are available?
Answer: We have several types and densities of foam available:
EPS (White beaded Styrofoam) in 1.0#, 1.5# and 2.0# densities
EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) in 1.3# and 1.9# densities
Pink foam (Owens Corning)
Surfboard foam (AKA: Spyderfoam)
How quickly can I get my cores?
Answer: Most orders are processed in 2 to 3 weeks.
How are cores shipped?
Can you ship to a P.O. Box?
Yes, if package is small enough (under 108" Girth/Length) for Priority Mail.
How much do cores cost?
This is one of the most asked questions. The formula for determining cores pricing is
complex, confidential and requires a formal quote, however, here are some examples:
Aerobatic Wing: For a 2 piece core set for an Extra with 36" long panels, and 18" root
chord, 9" tip chord, cut from 1# EPS foam, the cores would cost about $54 + shipping.
If cut from 2# EPS foam, the cost would increase to $76 + shipping. Cutting holes for
a wing tube would add $10 to either example.
Glider Wing: For a 2 piece cores set with 36" long panels, an 8" root chord, 5" tip cord,
cut from 1.8# Owens pink form, the cores would cost about $46 + shipping. If cut from
Spyderfoam, the cost would increase to $54 + shipping. Cutting holes for a joiner tube
would add $10. Spar slots would add $5 to $15 depending on number and complexity.
Both these examples assume you will use available standard airfoils. Digitizing an
airfoil from a drawing or plans costs $25 per airfoil.
In general, a 2nd set of cores will cost $10 to $20 less than the first set, and will usually
cost very little extra to ship.
Do you offer discounts?
Answer: We encourage volume orders from kit manufacturers, or for club projects by offering discounts that increase with size of the order. We also will discount repeat orders for cores that are identical to a previous order and shipped to the same address.
I can't wait! How do I order custom cores?
We need a number of pieces of information to create your cores.
